East Belfast: Couple escape house fire

A couple have escaped injury after a fire broke out from an oil tank at their home in east Belfast.

The blaze happened at a property in Hillside Park in Castlereagh at around 18:00 BST on Tuesday.

The fire spread to a neighbouring property and caused smoke and structural damage to both houses.

The fire and rescue service have said they are treating the incident as accidental.

The couple left the property before two fire crews had arrived.

Station Commander Michael Roberts said the couple were very lucky to have escaped so quickly.
