Father and son injured in Carlingford helicopter crash

A father and son have been injured in a helicopter crash near Carlingford in County Louth.

The aircraft crash-landed in a garden at the foot of Top Hill just after 17:00 GMT on Sunday. The men had to be cut from the wreckage.

The father, who is in his 70s, was airlifted to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where his condition was described as serious.

The son, in his 40s, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

An investigation into the crash has begun.

The scene has been sealed off by Gardaí (Irish police) while investigators continue their examination of the crash site.
