Man charged with attempted murder following Doagh assault

A 27-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder by police investigating an assault on a man in Doagh, County Antrim.

The victim, in his 40s, was attacked in a bar on Main Street on Wednesday and treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The 27-year-old is also charged with possession of an offensive weapon and is due to appear in court later.

Five other men arrested by police have been released on bail.

Another man, aged 34, who was arrested on Thursday night, remains in custody.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack, or who saw a group of men in the area, to contact them.
