A 35-year-old woman has appeared in court charged over a hammer attack in north Belfast.

A woman in her 20s suffered facial injuries during the incident in Enfield Drive at about 22:45 BST on Saturday.

Samantha Goldring, of Enfield Drive, is accused of possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit grievous bodily harm (GBH).

Belfast Magistrates' Court was told that an initial charge of attempted murder had been withdrawn.

When Ms Goldring was asked if she understood the charge against her, she replied "yes".

A police officer told the court he could connect the accused to the alleged offence.

No application for bail was made and the case was adjourned until Wednesday.
