Hundreds attend cancer centre rally in Londonderry

Hundreds of people gathered in Londonderry on Friday to show their support for a campaign to ensure a radiotherapy centre planned for Altnagelvin hospital gets the go ahead.

In March, the Health Minister, Michael McGimpsey, said funding was insufficient and shelved it.

However, the First and Deputy First Minister have both promised it will go ahead after the election.

The rally was organised by the Pink Ladies Breast Cancer Support Group.

Bernedette Healy, a cancer suvivor who was at Friday's rally said, she hoped their voices would be heard.

"We will get this unit which we badly need," she said.
