City of Derry Jazz Festival 'could bring £2m into city'

The City of Derry Jazz festival is expected to attract 35,000 visitors into the city this weekend and generate £2m for the local economy.

The four-day event will host a range of local, national and international acts, including Jools Holland who will kick-start the festival on Thursday.

Over 500 musicians will play 260 events in 76 difference venues.

Festival organiser, Johnny Murray, described it as a massive boost for the economy.

"It's estimated that it will bring £2million pounds into the city," he said.

"It's well established, we have people coming from all parts of Britain and Europe so it should be fantastic."
