Police rescue man from River Foyle

A 29-year old man has been rescued from the River Foyle in Londonderry.

He went into the water on the Foyle Road at about 2000 BST on Thursday. Foyle Search and Rescue and the PSNI responded to the scene.

Craig Smith from Foyle Search and Rescue said the quick actions of police officers saved the man's life.

"The police went straight to the scene at Foyle Valley railway and luckily they were able to get the line out to the man until our boat got to him which, in this case, saved his life," he said.
