Man stabbed in 'sectarian' attack in Londonderry

A man has been stabbed in a suspected sectarian attack in Londonderry.

The 26-year-old was walking with a 19-year-old woman along Chapel Road at about 0200 BST on Monday when a car pulled up beside them.

Two men armed with knives jumped out and stabbed the man in the face and ribs.

He was treated in hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The attackers were described as being in their 20s and one of them had blond hair.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the attack to contact them.
