Bricklayer denies slashing man with knife

An unemployed bricklayer has denied slashing a man across the face with a kitchen knife, Londonderry Magistrates Court has been told.

Gerald Coyle, 36, from Bramhall Crescent in Derry, also denied possession of the knife.

He is accused of inflicting a deep eye-to-eye cut across the bridge of the victim's nose in a house in Moss Park on Saturday morning.

He was released on bail of £2,000. The case was adjourned until next month.

He was also electronically tagged as part of his bail conditions.
