Councillors back defibrilators in Derry leisure centres
Derry City councillors have backed a motion to install defibrilators in all its leisure facilities.
The move - which received cross-party support - comes weeks after a local doctor used a defibrilator to save the life of a young Gaelic footballer during a match.
The motion was proposed by Sinn Fein councillor Colin Kelly.
"You can't put a price on saving lives, and this is what these do."
Doctor Joe McAvoy said a defibrilator could mean the difference between life and death if someone has a heart attack.
"Remember this is being used while we're getting the cardiac ambulance, while further medical help is on the way.
"You could save somebody's life while this is happening."
