PSNI 'will suspend pub licences' in Derry

The PSNI have said that any pub, club or restaurant owners who flout licencing laws will be brought to court and could have their licence suspended.

Pubs of Ulster had warned that about 50 pubs in County Londonderry, and 10-20 in the centre of Derry, regularly abuse licencing laws.

PSNI Licencing Officer Paul Larkin said they would increase their licencing checks in the run-up to Christmas.

"For habitual offenders, we will be pushing for a suspension.

"That's something licencees can ill afford, especially in the run-up to Christmas.

"Be aware we will be upping our licence checks on all premises," he said.
