Woman falsely claimed more than £13k in benefits

A woman has been convicted for claiming more than £13,000 in benefits to which she was not entitled.

Nuala McColgan, 44, of Meelmore Drive, Omagh claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Income Support totalling £13,244 while failing to declare employment.

She was given a two-month prison sentence at Omagh Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

McColgan is currently on bail pending an appeal hearing.

She will also have to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
