Vandals target two sports clubs in Strabane
Two sports clubs in Strabane have been targeted by vandals.
Strabane Rugby Club's pitch has been unplayable since the weekend, after smashed bottles were driven into the turf.
On Wednesday evening poles or bars were used to dig holes in the greens at Strabane Golf Club.
The president of Strabane Rugby Club said the club has already had to abandon one fixture, and he fears it "could finish" the club.
"I'm depressed, because I can't see what we'll do.
"There aren't any pitches, we've tried everywhere but we just can't get them.
"If we're lucky the grammar school will lend us their pitch, and we might have two matches, but we can't descend on them every Saturday.
"I don't know what the future is."
The head greenkeeper at Strabane Golf Club, Paul McFadden, said the holes in the greens were "a couple of feet wide and inches deep".
"They will take time to repair, and we've had to close the green today.
"Why do this? This is a club for everyone, with a big membership, and it's silly what they're doing, they're just annoying the local people."
