Limavady man jailed after abuse to taxi driver

A Limavady man who told a taxi driver that he would rape his daughter and burn down his house has been jailed for six months.

Scott McIlmoyle, 23, from Anderson Park admitted offences at Limavady Magistrate's Court.

The court was told that the incident happened after the defendant abused the driver

during a journey from Portrush to Limavady in March.

The taxi driver stopped outside a police station and McIlmoyle was arrested.

A defence solicitor said his client had little or no re-collection of what had happened and was very apologetic.

Deputy District Judge Noel Dunlop said: "One cannot comprehend the fear the taxi driver must have been in."

Judge Dunlop also ordered McIlmoyle to pay £150 in damages.
