A woman has been jailed after she tried to head butt a police officer and hit another one in the stomach with her knee.

Natasha Tipping, 23, appeared at Londonderry Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Tipping, of no fixed abode, admitted the offences which happened in June.

The court was told that Tipping became abusive with police after they were called out to an incident.

When she was being arrested she struggled with police and tried to head butt and knee the officer.

A defence solicitor said she became agitated after being woken by the police for something she felt she had no part in.

He said that there was alcohol involved and after she calmed down she apologised.

Tipping was sentenced to four months in prison and ordered to pay £125 in compensation.
