Pair charged with 18 offences in one day

Two men have been charged with committing a combined total of 18 offences in one day.

Damien Palmer, 34, from Beechwood Avenue, Londonderry, and 29-year-old Christopher Mallet from Brookdale Park also in the city, appeared in court on Monday.

The charges related to incidents in Castledawson on Sunday.

They include attempted burglary and stealing a car.

The pair were also charged with stealing a mountain bike and a set of car keys, driving without a licence and without insurance, going equipped to commit a burglary, and attempting to enter a house.

Mr Palmer was further charged with possessing a Class B drug.

Both men were refused bail at Londonderry Magistrates Court and were remanded in custody. They are due to appear again by video link on 12 September.
