Man pleads guilty to charges of sexually assaulting a child
A Londonderry Crown Court judge has ordered a 58-year-old man to sign the sex offenders register after the man pleaded guilty to committing 11 sex offences.
The defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, replied guilty to nine charges of indecently assaulting a female child.
He also pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual activity with a female.
He committed the offences against the injured party over an 11 year period starting in January 1997, but he denied a further charge of child cruelty.
Judge Piers Grant released the defendant on continuing bail until 4 September but warned him that because of the serious nature of the charges it was highly likely he would be remanded in custody on that date.
