Judge grants PSNI application in cash seizure case

A Deputy District Judge today granted an application by the PSNI for the detention of one of the largest amounts of cash seized in the North West in recent years.

The application at Londonderry Magistrates Court was made under the proceeds of crime act by a police officer in respect of £110,805 and 4165 euro.

There was no opposition to the application by solicitor Paddy McDaid on behalf of the respondent Jonathan McGonagle from Cranlee Park in Derry.

The application for a six month detention of the cash was granted by Deputy District Judge Terence Dunlop.
