Power restored to Derry homes

Power has been restored to customers in Londonderry after a fault left about 900 customers without power.

Northern Ireland Electricity said the cut was due to an underground cable fault.

A number of areas in the city were affected shortly before 09.00 BST on Wednesday.

Traffic lights that had been affected on the Northland Road and Strand Road were said to be back in operation by 11.00 BST.

As a result of the power cut, BBC Radio Foyle lost transmission a number of times throughout the morning.
