Solicitor accusses Derry council of mixed messages
A solicitor has accused Derry City Council of sending out mixed messages about on-street drinking.
Walter Hegarty was speaking after one of his clients, 52-year-old James Brolly from Foyle Road, was fined £75 at Londonderry Magistrates Court for the offence in a prosecution brought by the Council.
Mr Hegarty said the Council was promoting a Christmas continental market in the same city centre area where alcohol can be bought.
The market will operate next month.
