Londonderry shootings: McCartney blames 'INLA elements'
The Sinn Fein MLA, Raymond McCartney, has said he believes elements close to the INLA were involved in the shooting of two brothers in Londonderry.
The two men were shot in the legs in the Ballymagroarty area of the city shortly after 20:00 GMT on Thursday.
The men, aged 25 and 26, have been taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not known.
Mr McCartney urged those close to the INLA to pass on any information they have.
He said he believed the shooting arose following a street fight a number of weeks ago.
"There are suggestions that there are elements closely associated with the INLA involved in this," he said.
"I think it's incumbent upon people, particularly people associated with the INLA to come forward and give some explanation of what began as a street fight.
"People have now got access to guns and I think it's a very dangerous situation."
