Woman airlifted to hospital from Malin Head
A Dutch woman has been airlifted to hospital in Londonderry after falling on rocks at Malin Head, County Donegal.
The 49-year-old from Holland broke her ankle in the accident on Tuesday afternoon.
A helicopter was dispatched by the coastguard when an ambulance crew could not reach her.
She was flown to City of Derry Airport and then by ambulance to Altnagelvin Hospital, according to Mike Mullins, a radio officer at Malin Head.
"We tasked our Greencastle coastguard unit and thankfully, our rescue helicopter based in Sligo was actually up in the air on exercise at the time," he said.
"She was really in quite a bad way, in a lot of pain and the ankle was very badly fractured.
"The helicopter then brought us straight to Eglinton Airport."
