Man arrested in Meath beach murder investigation

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Audrius Butkus whose body was discovered on a beach in the Republic of Ireland.

A woman walking on Mornington Beach in County Meath found the body on 10 September.

The man, who is aged in his 50s, was arrested on Monday in the Drogheda area of County Louth.

He is currently being held at at Drogheda Garda Station.

Mr Butkus, 44, was originally from Lithuania, but had been living in the Republic of Ireland for four years.

A post-mortem examination found that he was stabbed several times and sustained serious head injuries.
