Two men jailed after Limavady house fire
Two men from Limavady, County Londonderry, have been jailed for setting fire to a house in the town in 2013.
Kenneth McDonald, 22, from Greystone Park has been sentenced to three years.
Mark Holmes, 23, from Irish Green Street was sentenced to 12 months.
Both men admitted setting fire to a house at Sperrin Road on 19 March 2013. They will serve half their sentences in jail and half on licence.
The judge said that McDonald had climbed into the roof space of the house and poured petrol around before starting the fire.
The damage to the house, which was vacant at the time, was estimated at £68,000.
The judge said that McDonald had been offered £250 by an "evil unknown person to set fire to the house".
McDonald was paid £100 and refused to name the person to the police.
The judge said: "It is impossible to know why a person would want to damage property in such a way".
