Sectarian abuse shouted at resident in Waterside, Derry

Police have said a criminal damage incident in the Waterside area of Londonderry on Wednesday night had sectarian overtones.

A number of youths banged on the front door and windows of a house at Dennett Gardens and shouted "abusive sectarian remarks" at the resident.

Police said it was the third such incident in the area this week.

Insp Declan McGrath said the incidents must stop.

"We are asking for responsible people in the community to rally around their neighbours and use their influence to bring this abuse to an end," he said.
