MTV Crashes: 'Sense of excitement' in Londonderry
The mayor of Derry has said there is "a palpable sense of excitement" in the city ahead of the weekend's MTV Crashes concerts.
About 20,000 music fans are expected at the gigs in Ebrington Square on Friday and Saturday nights.
Friday's concert features Dutch DJ Afrojack, British rapper Professor Green and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter MNEK.
Mayor Brenda Stevenson said it was a coup for Derry to be hosting it.
"Everybody's talking MTV, there's a great buzz about the city," she said.
"We have 10,000 tickets [sold] for the first night, 10,000 tickets for the second night - that's 20,000 people in the city over the weekend.
"So I don't think there's any way we can underestimate the impact it's going to have, not only on the economy, but again building the good news and the great story that we have to tell in Derry."
Earlier this week, British singer Katy B pulled out out of the concert following the death of her brother.
Following the news, MTV announced that she would be replaced by girl group, Neon Jungle.
Previous MTV Crashes concerts have taken place in Belfast, Manchester and Glasgow.
The concerts will be screened across MTV's UK music channels and subsequently broadcast on its European music channels in October.
