Londonderry shooting: Second man shot in legs in the city

A 26-year-old man has been shot in both legs in Derry.

It happened in Liscloon Drive in the Shantallow area of the city at about 20:30 GMT on Sunday.

The man was taken to hospital for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

It was the second shooting in the city in 24 hours. A 42-year-old man was injured in a paramilitary-style shooting at Corrib Court in the Ballymagroarty area on Saturday night.

Sinn Féin councillor Eric McGinley said he understood the man had been shot in the leg "by appointment" during a so-called punishment attack.
