David Cameron: Eastleigh by-election result 'disappointing'

Help

The prime minister has described the Conservatives' performance in the Eastleigh by-election as "disappointing".

The Tories were third in the poll behind the victorious Lib Dem candidate Mike Thornton and UKIP's Diane James.

David Cameron blamed the party's poor showing on protest votes and said he was "confident" it could win back voters before the next general election.
