Lloyd Blankfein, the head of giant investment bank Goldman Sachs, has said banks are "afraid" of investing in small businesses because of the prospect of taking losses.

Speaking to the BBC, he said, "Banks have a lot of capital... but you can't argue with the fact that there are small businesses that are starving for cash."
