No action against rule breach MSP

No action will be taken against an MSP who breached parliament rules by failing to keep his register of interests up to date.

Nationalist MSP Kenny Gibson failed to declare ownership of a property he lets out within required time limits.

Holyrood's standards committee decided against imposing sanctions on the Cunninghame North MSP, after concluding the breach was an "unintended error".

MSPs also heard Mr Gibson was dealing with some sensitive personal issues.

Mr Gibson did eventually register the property, in October 2009, but had been required to take action, under the rules, during 2008.

The cross-party standards committee agreed to write to Mr Gibson, reiterating the rules to which MSPs must adhere.
