Man rescued from Glasgow basement blaze

A man who was rescued from the basement of a burning building has been taken to hospital suffering severe smoke inhalation.

The incident happened inside a five-storey residential and commercial property at the corner of Argyll Street and James Watt Street in Glasgow.

Fire crews from Yorkhill, Maryhill and Calton Community fire stations attended the incident at 0230 GMT.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out.
