Tory candidate Davena Rankin defects to Labour

A former Scottish Conservative election candidate and activist has defected to Labour, the party has said.

Davena Rankin, who stood for the Tories in the Glasgow East by-election, coming third, is an active member of public sector union Unison.

The 38-year-old campaigned with David Cameron during the 2008 by-election, won by the SNP.

Ms Rankin has stood as a Tory candidate in several Glasgow seats in UK and council elections.
