Drugs worth £2m found in search

Cocaine with a street value of £2m has been seized by the police from a house in North Lanarkshire.

Eight officers found about 2kg of cocaine and mixing agent with an estimated street value of £2.2m during the operation.

They also found about £1,400 worth of amphetamines, about £650 of cannabis and about £3,000 in cash.

Two men, aged 27 and 36, were arrested following the operation in the Gartcosh area on Thursday.

They are expected to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Monday.

Detective Sergeant Raymond Hughes, from Coatbridge pro-active unit, said: "Firstly I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my officers for their hard work and tenacity. Through their efforts over £2m of drugs has been taken out circulation.

"We are absolutely determined to rid our communities of serious and organised crime and we will continue to target all those involved in the sale and supply of controlled drugs at whatever level they operate."
