A bedridden woman has died after a fire in her cottage in West Lothian.

Fire crews went to the scene at 2200 BST on Saturday after West Lothian Careline told them a heat detector in the property had activated and there was no response from the occupant.

They found the 73-year-old woman dead in her bed in the living room where the fire had started.

Lothian and Borders fire service is investigating the fire at Nether Dechmont Cottages in Livingston.
