Man, 28, beaten with baseball bat

A 28-year-old man was hit repeatedly with a baseball bat and slashed across the face and head in a "totally unprovoked" attack by two teenagers in Glasgow, police have said.

The man was walking along Drumoyne Road following a night out in Glasgow city centre at about 0350 BST.

He was attacked by two young men, aged 15 or 16, who had asked for a light.

The victim was taken by ambulance to the Southern General Hospital where he was detained in a stable condition.

Det Con Scott Holtz said: "This is a despicable crime, totally unprovoked and has left the victim completely traumatised.

"We know the victim had been on a night out in the city centre and got on the night bus to Paisley Road West, close to Asda Govan.

"He was making his way home along Drumoyne Road when he was approached at its junction of Balfron Road by both youths. We think they came from the Elder Park area."

Det Con Holtz said: "I would therefore appeal to anyone who was in these areas around 3.30am to 4am this morning, particularly taxi drivers who would still be out and about.

"I would also appeal to any residents in this area that we haven't yet spoken to, to come forward if they heard or saw anything.

"The victim has never been in any trouble his whole life, and is a completely innocent victim of crime. Two young boys out at this time in the morning inflicting such violence must be traced."

The first suspect was described as 15 to 16 years old, 5ft 4in, stocky build, short dark hair and was wearing a bright blue Adidas tracksuit.

The second was also a white male aged 15 to 16, about 5ft 10in to 6ft tall and of slim build.
