SNP hold in Falkirk council by-election

The Scottish National Party has held the Falkirk Council ward of Bo'ness and Blackness, following a by-election.

Falklands war veteran Sandy Turner took 58% of the vote to become a councillor, with Labour coming second.

The by-election was held following the death of sitting SNP councillor, John Constable.

The SNP won 1,621 votes, with Labour on 893. The Tories came third, on 231 votes and independent Gerry Lawton recieved 59 votes.

A total of 2,804 valid votes were cast.
