A six-year-old boy has been killed in a road accident outside a holiday park in East Lothian.

The youngster died after being hit by a car outside the entrance to Seton Sands Holiday Village.

Lothian and Borders Police said he was holidaying there with his family, from the Glasgow area, and have launched an appeal for witnesses.

The driver of a Vauxhall Corsa has been helping officers establish what happened.

Police said they wanted to speak to the driver of a white van, which was travelling towards Longniddry at the time of the incident at about lunchtime.

Local road diversions were put in place as the investigation got under way.
