More late-night trains for Edinburgh festival season

ScotRail will be running more late-night trains to Glasgow, Fife and Perth during this year's festival season in Edinburgh, the operator has said.

From 6 to 29 August, there will be an extra train to Glasgow leaving at 00:01, calling at Linlithgow, Polmont, Falkirk High, Croy and Bishopbriggs.

On Saturday and Sunday mornings there will also be an additional train from Edinburgh at 00:30.

Sunday morning services from Glasgow Queen St will increase to half-hourly.

ScotRail said Fife's late night Friday service to Inverkeithing would be extended as far as Kirkcaldy, departing Edinburgh at 23:52 on Fridays from 12 to 26 August.

The 23.19 Edinburgh-Glenrothes with Thornton service will be extended to Perth six days a week from Saturday to 1 September.

ScotRail also said there would also be more trains to East Lothian.

The North Berwick train will call at Musselburgh, Wallyford, Prestonpans, Longniddry and Drem.

And there will be onward bus connections from Drem to Dunbar.

North Berwick's Fringe by the Sea will also benefit from a service back to Edinburgh just before midnight.
