Call for calm over glove puppet
Police have attempted to reassure the public after reports of two men in a car approaching children in the east end of Glasgow with a glove puppet.
Strathclyde officers said there was no suggestion of an attempt to abduct any of the children.
The same story has also surfaced in Aberdeen, Fife and the west end of Glasgow.
A police spokesman said the incidents were being "discussed extensively" on social network sites.
He said: "As a preventative measure, police in the east end of Glasgow are in the process of contacting local primary schools with a view to school staff highlighting the dangers of speaking to strangers.
"We would stress again that on no occasion has there been any attempt to abduct a child."
