Six rescued from blaze at Perth flats
Four adults and two children have been rescued after a fire broke out at a six-storey block of flats in Perth.
The fire at Strathtay Road started in a ground floor cupboard at about 05:00.
Fire crews took a number of people off their balconies by ladder while another 10 adults and seven children made it to safety on their own.
A Tayside Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said they were all checked over by ambulance staff but none needed medical treatment.
The spokeswoman said the block of flats, which contains about 20 properties, was heavily smoke-logged.
She added: "Four appliances attended and used eight breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one main jet and a ladder to extinguish the fire."
The blaze was out by 06:30.
