Co-op salmon recalled over Listeria fear

Listeria fears have led to a recall of some 160g packs of The Co-operative's own brand Scottish smoked salmon.

Batches, which may be affected by the potentially deadly food poisoning bug, have a use by date of 21 December 2011 and 24 December 2011.

The product recall notice advises people not to eat the salmon and return it to the Co-op for a full refund.

The company said routine testing had detected Listeria in a small number of retail samples.

It said it was recalling stock as a precautionary measure.
