Clydebank sex attack on woman 'horrific'
A 37-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in West Dunbartonshire in the early hours of Saturday morning, police have said.
Officers said the woman was subjected to a "horrific and frightening ordeal".
The attack took place as the woman was walking in a lane between Burn Street and Scott Street, in the Dalmuir area of Clydebank, at about 03:00.
The suspect was described as white, in his late 20s to early 30s, and about 5ft 9in tall, with an average build.
He was wearing dark clothing and a beige baseball hat.
It is thought the man ran off when he heard shouts from a member of the public.
A man then helped the woman and took her to a friend's house.
Det Insp Gary Stitt said: "This was a horrific and frightening ordeal for the woman involved and it's imperative we trace the man responsible.
"In particular, I would like to speak to the man who came to the woman's aid.
"I would appeal directly to him to contact us, I am sure he will have some crucial information which could assist our investigation."
He added: "The Dalmuir area of Clydebank is a very busy residential area with people regularly out and about.
"Scott Street is near to the A814 road which again can be generally busy with traffic - I would appeal to anyone who may have seen or heard anything or who has any information or knowledge about the incident or the suspect to get in touch with us as a matter of urgency."
