Glasgow 2014: Hazel's story of sight loss inspiration

20 June 2014 Last updated at 14:23 BST

The Commonwealth Games baton has been travelling from south west Scotland into Ayrshire.

Baton bearer Hazel McFarlane has been carrying it through Troon.

The ultra-runner, who last year became the first blind person to run the Glasgow to Edinburgh double marathon, was born with a degenerative eye condition.

Hazel lost her sight completely in 2007 and has been telling BBC Scotland how she used her experience to develop and raise funds for vision support services.

Follow live coverage of The Queen's Baton Relay as it makes its way to Glasgow for the XX Commonwealth Games on 23 July.
