A 21-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a woman who was walking her dog in the east end of Glasgow.

Paul Ward, from Glasgow, is accused of killing 53-year-old Jean Campbell in Cranhill Park on 13 December.

Another man, 22-year-old Thomas Leyden, also from Glasgow, is accused of trying to pervert the course of justice.

Neither made any plea or declaration at Glasgow Sheriff Court. Both have been held in custody and are expected to re-appear in court within eight days.

Consideration of Leyden's application for bail was continued until Tuesday.
