Cyclist in coma after being knocked off bike by car

A cyclist is in an induced coma after being hit and seriously injured by a car in South Queensferry.

The accident happened on Tuesday morning at around 7:30, on the A904 South Queensferry to Linlithgow Road, as the cyclist approached Headrigg Road.

A car knocked the cyclist off his bike. He was taken to hospital with a head injury and put in an induced coma.

Police Scotland are appealing for witnesses.

Sgt Gary Taylor said: "This road is very busy at this time in the morning, with most traffic heading towards Edinburgh, and I am appealing to any motorist who saw this collision, or a white Audi TT and a pedal cyclist, around 7.30am."

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101 or provide information anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
