Collection of Jack Vettriano works sold for £800,000

A private collection of 12 works by the Scottish artist Jack Vettriano has raised a total of £837,900 at an auction in Edinburgh.

The highest price was fetched by Waltzers, which sold for £236,500.

Other highlights of the sale included The Road to Nowhere, which sold for £218,500, and The Missing Man II, which was bought for £112,900.

Jack Vettriano, who is from Methil in Fife, is entirely self-taught. The sale was held by auctioneers Bonhams.

The company's head of Scottish art, Chris Brickley, said: "This was a stunning collection and I am not surprised that it proved so popular with collectors."
