A 76-year-old man has been charged after a video of a car being driven the wrong way on a busy road emerged online.

The orange Vauxhall Corsa was filmed on Dunnikier Way, in Kirkcaldy.

The video, posted on social media, showed the car heading into oncoming traffic with its hazard lights on.

The incident was reported to police on Wednesday 23 March and a man has now been charged with dangerous driving.

It is the same road where two women were hit and killed by 36-year old Land Rover driver James Clunie in 2012.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police in Fife have charged a 76-year-old man for dangerous driving in Kirkcaldy.

"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
