Police issue warning over 'deliberate' Ecclefechan fire

A fire which was deliberately started in a block of flats could have had "catastrophic consequences", police have warned.

The blaze was discovered in rubbish bags outside the front door of a flat in Bluebell Court, Ecclefechan, at 02:00 on Sunday.

People who lived in the flat used water to douse the flames before it was extinguished by firefighters.

PC George Clark appealed for help from potential witnesses.
