Nine people rescued from Edinburgh flat fire

Nine people have been rescued from a large fire in an Edinburgh tenement.

One couple were rescued from the roof of the block in Croall Place, while a hydraulic platform was used to help a family escape through a window.

Eighteen firefighter tackled the blaze after the alarm was raised shortly after 0400 BST.

Two people were hurt but did not need hospital treatment and an elderly woman was given oxygen. An investigation has been launched into the cause.
