Police investigating a serious sex attack in Edinburgh in May have released CCTV images of a man they believe could help the inquiry.

The Lothian and Borders force said a 23-year-old woman was attacked in the early hours of Sunday 23 May.

Detectives say a man captured on CCTV from Espionage night club on Victoria Street may be able to assist their inquiries.

Anyone who recognises the man has been asked to contact police.

He is described as black, 5ft 6in to 5ft 8in tall, slim build, and wearing slim rectangular Armani-style glasses.

He was wearing a purple shirt with a white t-shirt underneath, blue jeans and purple shoes.

Det Ch Insp John McKenzie, who is leading the investigation said: "We are urging the public to look at these images and come forward if they believe they recognise this male.

"Similarly, anyone who has information that can assist with our inquiries should also get in touch immediately."
